A weekly look at how Penguins prospects and minor leaguers have fared over the past seven days:
• In the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), forward Nathan Legare had a game-winning power-play goal and an assist for the Val-d’Or Foreurs in a 4-1 road win against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on Wednesday.
In the midst of season-best seven-game winning streak, Legare has 14 points (six goals, eight assists) over that span. A third-round pick (No. 74 overall) in 2019, Legare, 20, is signed to a three-year entry-level contract that has yet to begin.
• Elsewhere in the QMJHL, Baie-Comeau Drakkar forward Raivis Ansons was given a two-game suspension for a high-stick penalty he incurred during a 5-2 home loss to the Quebec Remparts on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old Ansons was a fifth-round pick (No. 149 overall) in 2020 and has yet to sign with the Penguins.
• In the American Hockey League, defenseman P.O Joseph recorded two assists, including one on a power play, for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 3-2 overtime road win against the Binghamton Devils on Wednesday.
Acquired via trade in June of 2019, Joseph, 21, is in the second year of a three-year entry-level contract.
• Also with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, forward Drew O’Connor had a goal and an assist in a 5-4 overtime road loss to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Saturday.
An undrafted free agent signing in March of 2020, O’Connor is in the first year of a two-year entry-level contract.
• In the Western Hockey League (WHL), forward Lukas Svejkovsky had two power-play goals for the Medicine Hat Tigers in a 4-1 home win against the Calgary Hitmen on Friday.
Svejkovsky is currently tied for fourth in the WHL for goals with nine in 10 games. A fourth-round pick (No. 108 overall) in 2020, Svejkovsky, 19, has yet to sign with the Penguins.
• In Finland’s Liiga, forward Valtteri Puustinen had a power-play goal for HPK in a 3-1 home win against Jukurit on Saturday.
Puustinen is tied for fourth in the Liiga’s goal-scoring race with 21 goals in 49 games this season. A seventh-round pick in 2019 (No. 203 overall), Puustinen, 21, has yet to sign with the Penguins.
• In Finland’s second-tier Mestis league, goaltender Joel Blomqvist was pulled from a postseason game after allowing three goals on seven shots for Hermes which rebounded to come back for a series-clinching 4-3 overtime win against TUTO in a quarterfinal series.
Hermes will face Espoo in the semifinal round.
