The Pittsburgh Penguins placed forward Colin White on waivers Wednesday afternoon, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
White, 27, has appeared in 11 games this year for the Penguins but hasn’t recorded a point.
Injuries and inefficiency among the club’s forwards had led to White’s deployment in various roles since he was called up from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League in mid-January, but for the most part, White had been utilized in a bottom-six capacity.
He averaged 9 minutes, 56 seconds of nightly ice time.

White can be claimed by another NHL club up to 2 p.m. Thursday, after which time he’ll clear and be eligible for reassignment to Wilkes-Barre Scranton.
Through 21 AHL appearances this season, White contributed five goals and five assists.
A former first-round (No. 21) draft pick by the Ottawa Senators in 2015, White was signed to a one-year contract worth $775,000 annually with the Penguins in early October.
Last year, he helped the Florida Panthers advance to the Stanley Cup, appearing in 68 games while scoring eight goals with seven assists.
He spent the prior six seasons in Ottawa, where career highlights included a 14-goal, 27-assist campaign in 2018-19.
