Penguins place forward Bryan Rust on injured reserve, recall forward Drew O'Connor
The Penguins have placed forward Bryan Rust on injured reserve retroactive to Friday.
Rust suffered an undisclosed injury during warmups on Friday prior to a 1-0 road win against the New York Islanders and has missed the past two games.
This is Rust’s second stint on injured reserve this season. He missed seven games after suffering an undisclosed injury on Oct. 14.
In 12 games this season, Rust has nine points (two goals, seven assists) and has averaged 18:13 of ice time per contest.
With Rust off the active roster, the Penguins recalled forward Drew O’Connor from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.
O’Connor, a rookie, opened the season on the NHL roster. In 12 NHL games, he scored five points (three goals, two assists) while averaging 11:02 of ice time per contest.
Appearing in five AHL games this season, O’Connor has five points (two goals, three assists).
