In 27 games this season, Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry has a 16-5-5 reord.

Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry was an unexpected scratch for a home contest Tuesday against the Florida Panthers.

According to the team, Jarry was scratched because of an undisclosed injury. No further details were provided.

Backup goaltender Casey DeSmith started in his place.

Jarry was announced as the team’s starting goaltender by coach Mike Sullivan after Tuesday’s morning skate but did not participate in warmups.

Earlier this month, Jarry missed seven games between Jan. 5 and Jan. 18 with a suspected right leg injury.

A two-time All-Star, Jarry has appeared in 27 games this season and has a 16-5-5 record, a 2.65 goals-against averaged, a .921 save percentage and one shutout.

WIth Jarry scratched, the Penguins are dressing only 19 players (12 forwards, six defensemen, one goaltender).

Mike Chiasson, the team’s emergency backup goaltender, could be signed to a professional tryout contract should he need to enter the contest.

Follow the Penguins all season long.
