Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry scheduled to start against Blue Jackets
The Pittsburgh Penguins are scheduled to start goaltender Tristan Jarry against the Columbus Blue Jackets at PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday.
Coach Mike Sullivan announced Jarry’s status following a morning skate.
In 41 games this season, Jarry has a 17-19-4 record, a 2.60 goals against average, a .910 save percentage and a league-best six shutouts.
Throughout his career, Jarry has played the Blue Jackets in 10 contests, posting a 7-1-1 record, a 2.32 goals against average, a .923 save percentage and one shutout.
Notes:
• Penguins forward Noel Acciari will miss Tuesday’s game due to an undisclosed injury. Per Sullivan, Acciari is still being evaluated.
Typically serving as the fourth-line center, Acciari has played in 45 games this season and has scored five points (three goals, two assists) while averaging 12:59 of ice time per contest.
• Penguins forward Jansen Harkins participated in the morning skate and is considered a game-time decision for Tuesday’s lineup. He left Sunday’s 6-1 road loss to the Edmonton Oilers at 17:05 of the second period due to an undisclosed injury.
• Penguins forward Jake Guentzel, currently designated to long-term injured reserve due to an undisclosed ailment, participated in the morning skate in a non-contact fashion. He is ineligible to rejoin the active roster until Sunday.
• Penguins forward Bryan Rust and Guentzel worked out on the ice prior to the morning skate. Currently designated to regular injured reserve, Rust has missed the past four games due to an undisclosed ailment.
• Penguins rookie forward Matthew Phillips was not present for the morning skate. Currently on waivers, his fate will be determined by 2 p.m. Should no other team claim him, he can be assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.
• While the Penguins had a full morning skate, it lasted only approximately nine minutes. As such, no line rushes or special teams drills were performed.
• Penguins forward Reilly Smith has 499 career points.
• The Penguins have won 13 consecutive home games against the Blue Jackets, including five victories in overtime or shootout.
The Blue Jackets’ last road win against the Penguins was a 2-1 victory on Nov. 13, 2015. Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury made 26 saves on 28 shots in the defeat.
• The Blue Jackets are scheduled to start goaltender Jet Greaves. In two games this season, he has a 1-1-0 record, a 2.52 goals against average and a .934 save percentage.
Greaves, a rookie, has never faced the Penguins in his career.
• Following a 6-3 home win against the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday, the Blue Jackets traveled to Pittsburgh overnight and did not hold a morning skate Tuesday.
• Former Penguins forward Alex Nylander recorded his first career hat trick for the Blue Jackets in Monday’s win. The Penguins traded Nylander and a conditional draft pick to the Blue Jackets on Feb. 22 in exchange for forward Emil Bemstrom.
Since joining the Blue Jackets, Nylander has played in five games and has six points (four goals, two assists).
Over parts of three seasons, Nylander played in 14 NHL games with the Penguins and posted two points (one goal, one assist).
• Blue Jackets forward Cole Sillinger has played in 199 career games.
• Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski has 199 career assists.
