Penguins forward Zach Aston-Reese out against Jets
Penguins forward Zach Aston-Reese will miss Sunday’s home game against the Winnipeg Jets at PPG Paints Arena due to an undisclosed injury.
Head coach Mike Sullivan announced Aston-Reese’s status during a video conference with media prior to the game. Aston-Reese was labeled as “day-to-day.”
During Friday’s 5-2 road win against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Aston-Reese did not record a shift in the third period.
In 33 games this season, Aston-Reese has scored eight points (one goal, seven assists) and clocked an average of 13:46 of ice time per contest. He leads the Penguins with 123 hits.
Notes:
• Reserve goaltender Louis Domingue will be sidelined on a “week-to-week” basis, according to Sullivan. During an optional morning skate Thursday, Domingue appeared to be struck in the right foot by a shot and was hobbled immediately. The team placed him on injured reserve Thursday afternoon.
In one NHL game this season, Domingue has a 1-0-0 record, a 0.99 goals against average and .976 save percentage.
• Goaltender Tristan Jarry is slated to start for the Penguins against the Jets. In 32 games this season, Jarry has a 21-7-4 record, a 2.10 goals against average, a .928 save percentage and three shutouts. He has played the third-most games among goaltenders in the NHL in 2021-22.
• The Jets are expected to start goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. Appearing in 31 games this season, Hellebuyck has a 14-12-5 record, a 2.83 goals against average, a .912 save percentage and two shutouts. He has started 10 consecutive games.
