Pittsburgh Penguins forward prospect Raivis Ansons was named to Latvia’s roster for the International Ice Hockey Federation’s World Championship tournament.

The Latvian Hockey Federation announced its roster Tuesday.

An undisclosed injury suffered late in the 2022-23 season sidelined Ansons entering the 2023-24 campaign and limited him to 34 games and seven points (two goals, five assists) with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

Primarily deployed as a bottom-six forward, Ansons also appeared in eight contests at the ECHL level with Wheeling and posted three points (two goals, one assist).

A fifth-round pick (No. 149 overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft, Ansons is in the second year of a three-year entry-level contract with a salary cap hit of $844,167.

The IIHF World Championship tournament is goes from Friday to May 26 in Czechia. Several members of the Penguins are slated to participate:

• Forward Michael Bunting was named to Canada’s roster, and president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas is serving as an associate general manager for Canada.

• Defensemen Erik Karlsson and Marcus Pettersson were selected to Sweden’s roster.

• Forwards Jesse Puljujarvi and Valtteri Puustinen will suit up for Finland.

• Assistant coach Ty Hennes was named to the United States’ staff in an identical capacity.
