Penguins forward Jake Guentzel selected for All-Star Game event
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel has been selected for the NHL’s upcoming All-Star game event.
This is the second selection for Guentzel for the event, which really is a three-game tournament of three-on-three play. He was unable to participate in 2020 because of a shoulder injury.
Guentzel was selected via the NHL’s “Last Man In” marketing initiative that involves fan voting. He replaces Rangers forward Mika Zibanejad, who initially was chosen for the Metropolitan Division’s team but declined because of personal reasons.
In 32 games this season, Guentzel leads the Penguins with 38 points (20 goals, 18 assists).
Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry previously selected for the event, which is scheduled Feb. 5 in Las Vegas.
