While there isn’t a hard date yet for the NHL to open training camps let alone the 2020-21 season, the Penguins have begun informal skating sessions at their facility at Cranberry.
The team announced a handful of unspecified players skated on Tuesday in small groups. It is unclear if any members of the team have been skating at the facility before Tuesday.
Regulations to prevent the spread of the coronavirus that were installed by the NHL in advance of training camps this past summer prior to the postseason appear to once again be in place. According to a release from the team, players are only permitted to skate in “small groups’ and are tested daily.
The facility is closed to the public, including independent media.
Follow the Penguins all season long.
