Penguins assign forwards Justin Almeida, Jan Drozg to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
The Penguins have assigned forward prospects Justin Almeida and Jan Drozg to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Each player participated in Monday’s preseason opener, a 3-0 home loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets at PPG Paints Arena. Almeida logged 12:45 of ice time on 15 shifts and won one faceoff (on one attempt). Drozg had 9:52 of ice time on 15 shifts and had one shot as well as one penalty.
The 22-year-old Almeida was a fifth-round pick (No. 129 overall) in the 2018 draft and is in the final year of his entry-level contract. Last season, Almeida appeared in 11 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and scored four points (two goals, two assists).
Drozg, 22, was also a fifth-round pick (No. 152 overall) in 2017. During the 2020-21 season, he played in 30 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and scored 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists).
The Penguins’ training camp roster now stands at 48 players. The team had a scheduled day off on Tuesday.
