The Pittsburgh Penguins assigned defenseman Jack St. Ivany to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League late on Saturday night.

The team did not announce the transaction, which was reported by Cap Friendly.

Recalled to the NHL roster under emergency conditions on Friday, St. Ivany was a healthy scratch for a 7-4 home loss the New York Rangers on Saturday.

A right-handed shot, St. Ivany has yet to play at the NHL level in his two professional seasons.

With Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the 24-year-old has played in 52 games this season and has scored 12 points (four goals, eight assists).

A fourth-round pick (No. 112 overall) of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2018, St. Ivany never signed with that franchise and joined the Penguins in the final year of a two-year, two-way contract with a salary cap hit of $857,500.

Follow the Penguins all season long.
