Penguins activate forward Ryan Poehling from injured reserve
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Ryan Poehling was activated from injured reserve Sunday afternoon, shortly before his team faced the New Jersey Devils in a road game at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
An undisclosed ailment has caused Poehling to miss 13 of the past 14 games and landed him on injured reserve retroactive to Jan. 11.
Primarily used on the fourth line, Poehling has appeared in 31 games this season and scored eight points (four goals, four assists) while averaging 11 minutes, 8 seconds of ice time.
Poehling had been dealing with his ailment throughout much of December and missed four games between Dec. 22 and 28 before trying to play though his ailment during a 4-2 home loss to the Devils.
After that, he opted to step away from the lineup and allow his body to heal.
“I thought I was better, and I wasn’t,” Poehling said Monday. “That was the main issue. We’re getting things figured out, which is great. I have some direction on where I want to go.”
Per a release from the team, Poehling is considered a “game-time” decision for Sunday’s contest.
