Nose tackle Montravius Adams inactive for Steelers' game against Cardinals
The Pittsburgh Steelers had just one of their long-term injured players back on the field Sunday when they play the Arizona Cardinals.
While free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick played after missing four games with a hamstring injury, the Steelers de-activated nose tackle Montravius Adams with an ankle injury. It was the fourth consecutive game that Adams has missed. He was listed as questionable on the injury report Friday.
With Adams missing another game, rookie Keeanu Benton got the start in the middle of the three-man front.
Other players on the inactives list were inside linebacker Blake Martinez, tackle Dylan Cook, cornerback Darius Rush and running back Anthony McFarland. Mason Rudolph again served as the emergency No. 3 quarterback.
For the second week in a row, McFarland lost a game day roster spot to running back Godwin Igwebuike, who served as kickoff returner. Igwebuike muffed the opening kickoff at the goal line but recovered it and made a 26-yard return.
Kyron Johnson, who was elevated from the practice squad Saturday, played on special teams and served as a backup linebacker.
Cardinals inactives were wide receivers Zac Pascal and Michael Wilson, cornerbacks Starling Thomas IV and Antonio Hamilton, tackle Dennis Daley and tight end Blake Whiteheart.
