Neurologist, Tyler Kennedy highlight Westmoreland Sports Club socials
After two successful socials in August and September, the new Westmoreland Sports Club has announced details for meetings in October and November.
Dr. Joe Maroon, a UPMC neurologist and triathlon competitor, will speak to members and guests Oct. 13 at Ferrante’s Lakeview.
On Nov. 17, the club will hand the mic to former Pittsburgh Penguins center Tyler Kennedy.
Former Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert and former MLB manager Ken Macha spoke at the previous two “sports night out” meetings.
The club launched in July.
Eight meetings were planned for 2022-23 at Lakeview. They begin at 5:45 p.m. and consist of a cash-bar social, a buffet-style meal (6:30 p.m.) and the guest speaker (7:15).
Members can bring guests to the dinners, which feature a Q&A session with the speaker.
The first-year club is up to 70 members, but its member drive is ongoing.
Cost to attend the meetings is $27, with an annual membership fee of $40 — $70 per couple, $30 for additional family members.
Anyone interested in joining can contact Bob Colbert at bobcolbert@comcast.net or visit the club’s Facebook page to download a brochure.
