Pirates fans who miss seeing Neil Walker on the baseball diamond can now catch him on the radio.

Walker, a former Pirates infielder who recently retired as a player, is joining 93.7 The Fan’s (KDKA-FM) Morning Show as a weekly guest beginning May 10 at 9 a.m. “The Fan Morning Show” is hosted by Colin Dunlap and Chris Mack and airs weekdays from 5:40 a.m. to 10 a.m.

“Talking Pittsburgh sports is something I love to do,” Walker said. “I couldn’t be more excited to do that every week on The Fan with the greatest fans in our city.”

Walker spent seven seasons with the Pirates, mostly as a second baseman, and was an integral part of Pittsburgh teams that clinched National League playoff spots for three consecutive seasons from 2013-15.

In 2014, Walker won a Silver Slugger award for a season in which he hit 23 home runs, had 76 RBIs and batted .271.

He was a first-round draft choice of his hometown Pirates in 2004 after starring in baseball, football and basketball for Pine-Richland High School. He went on to play 12 seasons in the big leagues.

The Pirates traded Walker to the New York Mets before the 2016 season. He played for the Milwaukee Brewers, New York Yankees, Miami Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies before announcing his retirement from pro baseball last month.

“Neil Walker will forever be beloved in Pittsburgh — the local kid who led the Pirates to the playoffs for the first time in over 20 years. … You can’t write a story any better than that,” said Michael Spacciapolli, senior vice president and market manager of Audacy Pittsburgh, parent company of The Fan. “We are thrilled to have him join the Fan family to talk Pittsburgh sports and share his stories every Monday.”
