Minor league report: Radim Zohorna's 2 goals lead Penguins to victory

Two goals by forward Radim Zohorna, including one on a power-play opportunity, led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 4-2 home win against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Forwards Michael Chaput and Jamie Devane also scored twice for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (4-1-0-0) while forward Valtteri Puustinen recorded two assists. Goaltender Filip Lindberg made 20 saves on 22 shots in the victory which was the Penguins’ third consecutive.

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday, 7 p.m.

An overtime goal by forward Justin Almeida gave the Wheeling Nailers a 4-3 road win against the Iowa Heartlanders at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa.

Defenseman Christopher Merisier-Ortiz added a goal and an assist for Wheeling (1-1-0-0) while forwards Tim Doherty and Cam Hausinger each added a goal. Goaltender Tommy Nappier made 15 saves on 18 shots in the victory.

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Kansas City Mavericks on Friday, 8:05 p.m.
