Minor league report: Penguins shut out by Bears

Goaltender Joel Blomqvist made 19 saves on 20 shots for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 1-0 road loss to the rival Hershey Bears at the Giant Center in Hershey on Saturday.

The result dropped Blomqvist’s record to 12-5-3. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (20-14-5-0) was shut out for the second time this season.

Penguins forward Jonathan Gruden was scratched due to an undisclosed injury, according to Inside AHL Hockey.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Springfield Thunderbirds on Sunday, 3:05 p.m.

Two goals by forward Tanner Laderoute led the Wheeling Nailers to a 3-1 road win against the Iowa Heartlanders at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa.

Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 23 saves on 24 shots and improved his record to 11-11-2 while forward Justin Addamo contributed a goal for Wheeling (17-16-1-1).

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Reading Royals on Wednesday, 7 p.m.
