Minor league report: Penguins, Nailers each lose

Goaltender Alex D’Orio made 27 saves on 31 shots for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-2 road loss to the Bridgeport Islanders at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn. on Saturday.

Forwards Jonathan Gruden and Drew O’Connor each scored goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (23-23-2-4).

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Providence Bruins on Sunday, 3:05 p.m.

Goaltender Brody Claeys made 23 saves on 27 saves for the Wheeling Nailers in a 4-2 road loss to the Reading Royals at Santander Arena in Reading.

Forward Tim Doherty and defenseman Josh Maniscalco each scored goals for Wheeling (29-21-1-0).

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Toledo Walleye on Wednesday, 7:10 p.m.
