Minor league report: Penguins lose fifth straight

Forwards Josh Currie and Tim Schaller each had a goal and two assists for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 6-3 home loss to the Syracuse Crunch at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (5-5-3-1) has lost five consecutive games.

Forward Nick Schilkey also scored a goal for the Penguins while goaltender Emil Larmi recorded a loss after allowing four goals on five shots. He was relieved by backup goaltender Alex D’Orio who made 15 saves on 17 shots.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the rival Hershey Bears on Friday, 7 p.m.

A goal and two assists by forward Michael Jolly led the Wheeling Nailers to a 6-2 road win against the Florida Everblades at Hertz Arena in Estero, Fla.

Forward Austin Fyten and Cody Sylvester each had a goal and an assist for Wheeling (10-21-5-0) while defenseman Patrick McNally added three assists. Goaltender Taran Kozun made 26 saves on 28 shots in the victory.

The Nailers’ next game is on the road against the Everblades on Friday, 7:30 p.m.
