Forward Avery Hayes had a goal and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Laval Rocket at Place Bell in Laval, Quebec on Wednesday.

Goaltender Filip Larsson started the contest for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (20-9-4-0) and stopped all 12 shots he faced in the first period. A suspected injury force Larsson out of the net to open the second period and he was replaced by Jaxon Castor. Making his American Hockey League debut, Castor made 26 saves on 30 shots.

Forwards Emil Bemstrom and Jonathan Gruden each scored goals for the Penguins. In his season debut for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, forward Jesse Puljujarvi opened the contest on the right wing of the third line and recorded two shots on net.

The winning goal was scored by forward Jared Davidson at 2:16 of the overtime period.
