Defenseman Jack St. Ivany scored his first professional goal and recorded an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 6-2 loss to the Charlotte Checkers at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 33 saves on 38 shots as his record fell to 1-2-1 while defenseman Dmitri Samorukov also scored a goal for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (16-12-3-0).

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Springfield Thunderbirds on Friday, 7:05 p.m.


A goal and two assists by forward Cédric Desruisseaux led the Wheeling Nailers in a 5-3 home win against the Norfolk Admirals at WesBanco Arena.

Forwards Jordan Martel and Lukas Svejkovsky each had a goal and an assist for Wheeling (14-11-1-1) while defenseman Davis Drake and forward Matthew Quercia each contributed two assists. Goaltender Jaxon Castor made 26 saves on 29 shots to boost his record to 1-1-0.

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Admirals on Sunday, 6:10 p.m.
