Minor league report: Nathan Legare scores first pro goal in overtime win for Penguins

Forward Nathan Legare scored his first career professional goal in overtime and gave the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a 4-3 road win against the Springfield Thunderbirds at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass. on Saturday.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (5-1-01) also got two goals from forward Felix Robert while forward Valtteri Puustinen added a goal and an assist. Goaltender Filip Lindberg made 34 saves on 37 shots in the victory.

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Wednesday, 7:05 p.m.

Forwards Justin Almeida and Sean Josling each had two goals for the Wheeling Nailers in a 6-5 comeback road win against the Wichita Thunder at the Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kan.

Almeida and Josling both scored their goals in the third period for Wheeling which overcame a 5-2 deficit to claim victory. Forward Patrick Watling added a goal and three assists for the Nailers while defenseman Josh Maniscalco recorded two assists. Goaltender Tommy Nappier made 18 saves on 19 shots in the win.

The Nailers’ nexts game is a home contest against the Fort Wayne Komets on Nov. 6, 7:10 p.m.
