Free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick participates in a workout for NFL football scouts and media, Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, in Riverdale, Ga.

Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was asked Tuesday at his weekly news conference whether the organization considered sending a scout to Atlanta on Saturday to attend free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s workout.

The Steelers were not among the 25 teams the NFL said were planning to attend the workout, which was switched by Kaepernick’s representatives at the last minute. About a handful of NFL teams were represented at the re-scheduled workout, which was moved to a high school field an hour away from the original location.

“We were working on a short week,” Tomlin said in reference to the Steelers’ game Thursday in Cleveland. “Not a lot of discussion there. Not a lot of real fluid information and how the information came out.”

Tomlin dismissed a follow-up question about the Kaepernick workout.

“I’m not commenting on our intended plans regarding free agency or who we choose to work out and how we choose to participate,” he said. “That’s a matter of general policy for us, and the Kaepernick case is no different.”
