Michael Irvin says he begged Cowboys to draft Steelers' JuJu Smith-Schuster
Former Dallas Cowboys star and current NFL analyst Michael Irvin really wanted the Cowboys to draft JuJu Smith-Schuster in 2017.
Appearing on ESPN’s “First Take” on Monday and talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers, Irvin said that he begged Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to draft Smith-Schuster.
“I told Jerry Jones … This is the dude that I went to Jerry Jones and almost got down on my knees to draft. … I worked out with him … I said this kid, he will be the perfect guy to come in and be the No. 2 and take over as your No. 1 and that’s exactly what he will have the ability to do,” Irvin said.
Irvin said he believes Smith-Schuster will quickly assume the No. 1 receiver slot and help quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers offense.
All eyes are on Smith-Schuster in his third year following the departure of Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders.
