Before the Milwaukee Brewers met the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park on Friday night, Christian Yelich took aim at the Allegheny River. Hitting off batting practice pitcher Pat Shine, Yelich was preparing for the Home Run Derby on Monday in Cleveland.

He thought his best shots would land harmlessly in the water, but he didn’t figure on the time-honored boaters’ tradition of parking not far from the rightfield stands. As it turned out, one of Yelich’s blasts broke a window of a parked boat.

The Pirates’ Josh Bell, who will join Yelich in the Home Run Derby, has hit two of the five home runs that landed in the water on the fly.

Yelich and Bell have three games this weekend at PNC Park in which they can work on their home run swings. Yelich leads the majors with 31 homers. Bell has hit 26.
