Locals Oberdorf, Myers garner MAAC softball honors
Marist teammates and former Westmoreland County and WPIAL softball standouts Claire Oberdorf and Kiley Myers swept the latest Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference player of the week honors.
Oberdorf, a third baseman out of Greensburg Salem, was tabbed player of the week and Myers, who is from Latrobe, was the pitcher of the week.
Oberdorf batted .588 (10 for 17) with 10 RBIs and seven runs scored during a five-game stretch in Lubbock, Texas. Marist went 4-1 on the road trip. Oberdorf had three, multi-hit games, including a 4 for 4 effort that included a double and a triple against Fairleigh Dickinson. She had five RBIs and a three-run home run in a 5-4 win over Delaware State.
Myers went 2-0 and did not allow an earned run over 11 innings. She struck out 11 and gave up just two hits. In a 9-0 victory over Farleigh Dickinson, she tossed a one-hit shutout.
