Latrobe grad Jake Biss to play in Premier Basketball League
With his first year of professional basketball in the books, Jake Biss is making sure his game stays sharp in the offseason.
The former Latrobe and Shippensburg standout guard, who played last season with the Dan Helder Suns in the Netherlands, signed to play this summer with the DuBois Dream, a semi-pro league team in the Premier Basketball League.
Think of Biss’ latest venture as offseason training. He plans to return to overseas play next season.
DuBois started in 2016 as a team in the made-for-TV “The Basketball Tournament,” which awards $1 million to the winners. Biss will debut with the team in that event this summer, then likely part ways with the Dream.
“I’m not sure what this opportunity will do for my career, but I’m excited to compete with some high-level guys,” said Biss, who averaged 13 points and 2.6 rebounds in 25 games with Dan Helder. “I’ve been training and working out while I’ve been home, and I’m letting my agent do his thing and find me a club for next season.”

Dan Helder plays in the 21-team BNXT League, with teams from Belgium and the Netherlands.

Biss said his rookie season taught him a lot about basketball life in another country.
“Having one season overseas under my belt taught me how to adjust my game to the European style, how to live in an unfamiliar culture and also how the business side of basketball works,” Biss said, “to name a few things.”
Former Franklin Regional star guard Nick Novak played for the Dream in 2020. He had 55 points in his Dream debut.
