Latrobe’s Brady Pevarnik looks out of a green-side bunker after hitting onto the green on Hole 11 during the WPIAL Class AAA boys golf championship Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at Oakmont Country Club.

Brady Pevarnik’s college golf career is barely off the first tee, but he is chomping at the bit, ready to prove himself at the Division I level.

In search of continuity and a clean bill of health, the former Latrobe standout is on his third college after deciding to transfer from Charleston to Bowling Green.

He initially committed to Penn State but left there to find a better fit.

Injuries derailed his ride at Charleston — almost before it started.

He was ineligible during his first semester at Charleston because he was a mid-season transfer, then broke his right wrist and strained ligaments in his hand while playing pick-up basketball. That cost him his whole sophomore season.

“The injury took over 10 months to heal and when I got back it was late February,” said Pevarnik, a former Westmoreland County Amateur, C.R. Miller Match Play and PIAA West Region champion. “From then, our coach decided to remove six players from the roster and I was one of them.”

Unable to play healthy at Charleston, he opted to make another change.

“I think if I was healthy that entire year I would be in a much different position next fall,” he said. “But Bowling Green is going to be a great fit. I love coach Powers and they play an awesome schedule so I am very excited.”

Pevarnik only played one tournament at Penn State and three at Charleston. He will have three years of eligibility. He also considered Rutgers, Miami (Ohio) and Drexel when exiting Charleston.
