Latrobe alum Zach Kokoska having big month in High-A league
Zach Kokoska is burning up the Northwest League as he makes inroads to his dream of playing in the majors.
The former Latrobe and Kansas State baseball star has been on an offensive tear of late, hitting safely in 14 of his last 18 games for the High-Class A Spokane Indians.
In May, he is slashing .369/.481/.831 and has 24 hits, including seven home runs and nine doubles, with 19 RBIs and 15 runs for the Colorado Rockies’ affiliate.
Kokoska, a first baseman who also has played in the outfield, hit his ninth home run of the season Sunday.
People aren't talking about @zach_kokoska and that needs to change. Spokane's first baseman is batting .432 (16-for-37) during his current nine-game hitting streak and leads the Northwest League in average (.347), OBP (.470), and SLG (.705). #GoSpo pic.twitter.com/t7oEaeLOZF
