Kevin Shields hits a wedge on No. 17 at the Pittsburgh Open on Tuesday, July 14, 2020.

Kevin Shields shot a 7-under par 65 Monday to grab the first round lead at the Tri-State Section PGA Open at Montour Heights Country Club.

Shields holds a three-shot lead over Adam Corson, who shot a 4-under 68, and a five-shot lead over amateur Darin Kowalski, who fired a 3-under par 69.

The Tri-State Open was postponed until this week after being washed out June 14-15, at Wildwood Country Club.

Five players were tied for fourth place at 1-under 71 — John Aber, Brett Carmen, Bernie Hough, Denny Dolci and amateur Evan Lestini.

Four players were tied for ninth at even par — amateur Adam Scuilli, Jim Cichra, Christian Sheehan and Ty Roush.

The final round is set for Tuesday.
