Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Kevin Kramer underwent surgery on his right hip last week and is expected to miss four to six months.
The procedure, performed by Dr. Marc Philippon in Vail, Colo., was “a labral repair to address recent and chronic symptoms that prohibited Kramer from continuing his training in preparation for the 2020 season,” a Pirates statement said.
Drafted in the second round in 2015 as a shortstop out of UCLA, Kramer switched to second base and has played in the outfield. He had a slash line of .260/.335/.417 with 10 home runs and 54 RBIs in 113 games at Triple-A Indianapolis last season but is batting .152 with a double and nine RBIs in 43 major-league games.
