Coming out of high school, Gamal Marballie had small-college interest for football, but he seemed to disappear from the recruiting landscape.

That is because he did.

Marballie, a two-sport standout at Yough who also was a 1,000-point scorer in basketball, took a year off to rehab a knee injury he suffered while playing basketball.

He had football opportunities to play at Waynesburg and Bethany and was talking to Saint Vincent. He ultimately decided to attend Steel City Prep but changed his plans in favor of returning to football form.

Following a long healing process, is back on the market for colleges and believes he can be an impact player, even if he starts his college career a little later than most.

Marballie, a four-year starter, played running back, quarterback and defensive back at Yough.

“I have been hitting the field and starting to get comfy again,” Marballie said. “I decided to open my recruitment back up because I thought it was a good time to get back out there, now that I’m able to work out and lift like I want to. I want to get back on the field and prove that I can ball.”
