During the 2015-16 season, defenseman Adam Clendening appeared in nine games for the Penguins and recorded one assist.

Former Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Adam Clendening has signed a one-year contract with Kunlun Red Star, a team based in China that competes in Russia’s Kontinenal Hockey League (KHL).

That team announced the transaction on Wednesday.

A native of Niagara Falls, N.Y., the 31-year-old Clendening has played for 15 different teams in 12 seasons as a professional, including with the Pittsburgh and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Clendening’s time with the Pittsburgh Penguins was brief as he appeared in nine games and recorded one assist during the 2015-16 season.

In addition to the Penguins, Clendening has played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, Arizona Coyotes and Columbus Blue Jackets at the NHL level.

Last season, the right-handed Clendening played for Ilves of Finland’s Liiga. In 40 games, he scored 28 points (eight goals, 20 assists).

Follow the Penguins all season long.
