Former Norwin slugger JJ Matijevic recalled to Astros a day after getting his own bobblehead
Another MLB promotion and a bobblehead?
JJ Matijevic’s dream summer just keeps getting better.
A day after getting his own bobblehead, Matijevic is headed back to “The Show.”
The former Norwin star is set to join the Houston Astros again after a third call-up from Triple-A Sugar Land where he has become a fan favorite.
He claims the roster spot left vacant by Aledmys Díaz, who went on the 10-day injured list. Houston plays at the Chicago White Sox Wednesday night.
FOCO might have to stock more than the 72 collectable bobbleheads of Matijevic it announced this week.
The wobbling, 8-inch likeness of the former Norwin star is on preorder. The figurine shows the lefty slugger leaning back slightly in his batting stance and wearing the plastered-on smile he’s had since his first big-league promotion.
It also has a “Welcome To The Show” backdrop sign and a “Star Rookie” display tab in front and sells for $70.
FOCO said there are only 72 available in a limited edition stock.The bobbleheads can be purchased here.
The hand-painted figure swings and misses, however, on Matijevic’s collection of tattoos — but beggars can’t be choosers.

The Houston Astros have placed IF Aledmys Díaz on the 10-day IL due to left groin discomfort. We have recalled IF JJ Matijevic from Triple A Sugar Land and has joined the club in Chicago.

In his two major league stints with the Astros, the first baseman/designated hitter hit .189 (10 for 53) with two home runs and four RBIs, while striking out 19 times.
He delivered a walk-off single, and homered off New York Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole.
Matijevic was optioned back to Triple-A earlier this month.
