First Call: A Steeler jabs LeBron James about the Browns; Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell quiet in showdown

A little Twitter trash talk from a Pittsburgh Steeler to LeBron James. The Steelers-Ravens gambling line continues to grow. Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown don’t have it in gear yet with their new teams. And Aaron Donald flashes again with the Los Angeles Rams.

All that for Monday’s “First Call.”

Ebron vs. LeBron?

Eric Ebron’s online status has grown since he got to the Pittsburgh Steelers this year. The tight end isn’t exactly as popular as NBA star LeBron James with 48 million followers on Twitter or anything.

But that didn’t stop Ebron from jabbing “King James” on social media.

James — a native of Akron, Ohio — tweeted in happiness after his Cleveland Browns beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-25 Sunday. That improved the Browns to 8-3, thus assuring that the Browns will be .500 or better for the first time since 2007. James was celebrating. But Ebron wasn’t hearing it.

Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry eventually chimed in.

The Steelers beat the Browns 38-7 earlier in the year. The two teams are scheduled to play the last week of the season, on Jan. 3.

So we’ll see if Ebron gets a reply from James if the Browns win.

Money coming in

I’m not sure what the odds are when it comes to the Steelers-Ravens game actually being played Tuesday night. But I know the line is moving for the game itself.

The Steelers opened as 3.5- to 4.5-point favorites at most sports books when lines opened last week.

But since the coronavirus outbreak within the Ravens locker room, the odds have ballooned. Now the Steelers will have to win by at least 10 points at most books for you to win a bet on the Black and Gold.

The Steelers won in Baltimore by four points (28-24) earlier this season.

That’s not good

Speaking of gambling, the NFL is proving yet again that there is no such thing as a lock.

When it comes to the most money bet on one side of the line versus the other, it appears those who thought they were getting a sweet deal were wrong.

Check out these results from Darren Rovell of The Action Network.

So, that doesn’t exactly bode great for Tuesday night at Heinz Field if the money keeps coming in on the Steelers.

By the way, most places have that game’s over/under at 41 right now. And there could be some snow moving in over the next day or two. So keep an eye on that as you consider the point total.

Still not sizzling

As they faced each other Sunday, former Steelers Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown are still struggling to find their way on their new teams.

Bell had just 32 yards from scrimmage on seven carries for the Kansas City Chiefs in Tampa Bay. He has yet to top 40 yards from scrimmage in a game with his new team.

Brown only had two catches for 11 yards. That’s after leading the team with eight catches and 57 yards last week.

K.C. ended up winning 27-24 despite a late 14-point charge from the Buccaneers. Quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady combined for 807 yards passing.

Donald doing damage

Former Pitt star Aaron Donald made another highlight play for the Los Angeles Rams. This time, he caused a turnover against the San Francisco 49ers.

Along with that play, Donald had a sack, four solo tackles and four quarterback hits. But the Niners still won 23-20 on a last-second 42-yard field goal from Penn State product Robbie Gould.
