Duquesne new head mens basketball coach Dru Joyce Monday, April 1, 2024 at Duquesne.

Duquesne coach Dru Joyce III’s most recent roster addition will arrive — after completing the necessary paperwork — with three years of eligibility to develop and some impressive experience and accomplishments behind him.

Elijah Wilborn, who played his freshman season (2023-24) at St. Francis (Pa.) of the Northeast Conference, led the Red Flash in shooting percentage (54%), rebounds per game (7.4) and total blocks (47) as a 6-foot-8 forward.

He also was second in scoring (10.8) and third in assists (52) for St. Francis, which finished the season with an 8-22 record.

Joyce, the Dukes’ first-year coach, is in the process of a dramatic rebuild of the Duquesne roster, adding six transfers in the past two months to a team that won the Atlantic 10 championship and reached the NCAA Tournament last season.

Wilborn is scheduled to join former Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year Maximus Edwards, who played the past two seasons at George Washington, and forwards Alex Williams (Furman) and Jahsean Corbett (Chicago State) and guards Cameron Crawford (Marshall) and Tre Dinkins (Canisius).

Wilborn earned four letters at Middletown (Conn.) High School and played the 2022-23 season at South Kent (Conn.) Preparatory School.
