The Steelers’ Marcus Allen goes through drills during practice Monday, Sept. 2, 2020 at Heinz Field.

Two of the top special teams players for the Pittsburgh Steelers could be missing from the lineup Sunday if their game at the Tennessee Titans is played as scheduled.

Fullback Derek Watt already has been ruled out of the game with a hamstring injury, and safety Marcus Allen is doubtful with a foot injury, coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday.

Tomlin said Allen has plantar fasciitis.

“If it perks up, his chances are better than Watt’s,” Tomlin said.

Watt injured his hamstring in the first half of the Steelers’ 28-21 victory against the Houston Texans. Allen, the team’s fifth-round pick in 2018, had two special teams tackles in the win, his first of the season, and has played 40% of all special teams snaps this season.

Tomlin said wide receiver Diontae Johnson remains in concussion protocol after leaving the game Sunday in the first half with symptoms.

“I won’t speculate there,” Tomlin said. “As he goes through the week, his availability will be determined by that process.”
