Pitt’s Dane Jackson defends on a pass intended for Boston College’s Hunter Long in the first half Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019 at Heinz Field.

For the second year in a row, the Pitt football team will have just one representative this month at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

Cornerback Dane Jackson, who was invited to the Senior Bowl in January, will be the Panthers’ lone player attending the annual scouting event in Indianapolis from Feb. 24 to March 1.

Jackson was a second-team all-ACC pick as a redshirt senior and led Pitt with 12 pass breakups. He also was a team captain. Running back Qadree Ollision was the only Pitt player invited to the 2019 event.

Of the 337 college players gaining invitations, Penn State will have five players attending, including potential first-round pick Yetur Gross-Matos, a 6-foot-5, 265-pound defensive end who left school with a year of eligibility remaining.

Gross-Matos had 17 sacks and 34.5 tackles for a loss over two seasons as a starter for the Nittany Lions.

The other Penn State players attending the combine are linebacker Cameron Brown, wide receiver KJ Hamler, cornerback John Reid and defensive lineman Rob Windsor.

Like Pitt, West Virginia will have just one player attending the combine: offensive lineman Colton McKivitz, who also competed in the Senior Bowl.
