Corey Dickerson encouraged after testing injured shoulder before game
Pittsburgh Pirates left fielder Corey Dickerson, who’s been on the injured list since April 4 with a shoulder strain, was encouraged by his throwing session before the game Tuesday that required him to throw to bases from the outfield.
“I feel great,” Dickerson said after his workout. “I’m really happy about it. Great news.”
He said, however, he has no timetable for his return to the lineup.
“I have to do it again, keep progressing,” he said.
Earlier, manager Clint Hurdle said he noticed some progress in Dickerson’s throwing over the weekend in San Diego.
Dickerson played in only the first four games this season with two hits — a home run and double — in 13 at-bats. He hit .300 last year while earning his first Gold Glove.
In Dickerson’s absence, Bryan Reynolds and Melky Cabrera have started a total of 23 games while hitting .341 and .320 before Tuesdays’g game against the Colorado Rockies.
