With James Washington becoming the latest Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver to miss a game because of injury, the team added Cody White to the active roster to take his roster spot.

White, who was elevated from the practice squad before games against Cincinnati and Green Bay, was signed to the 53-man roster Saturday, and he will play Sunday against the Denver Broncos at Heinz Field.

Washington will miss the game because of a groin injury. White was called up previously because of injuries to Dionte Johnson and Chase Claypool, respectively. He has two catches for 17 yards.

Because White had been added twice from the practice squad, he no longer was eligible for another promotion unless he was signed to the 53-man roster. His addition came at the expense of injured guard Rashaad Coward, who was released Saturday.

The Steelers also elevated safety Karl Joseph from the practice squad Saturday. The Steelers signed Joseph, a former first-round pick, to the practice squad after he was released by Las Vegas on Aug. 31.
