Cameron Heyward, T.J. Watt active, will start for Steelers against Ravens
Despite missing practice Friday with an illness, defensive captain Cameron Heyward is active and will start for the Pittsburgh Steelers in their AFC North game Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.
Heyward was not among the five players the Steelers de-activated. Neither was defensive end Isaiahh Loudermilk, who also missed practice Friday because of an illness.
Outside linebacker T.J. Watt was cleared to play after missing the entire practice week because of a stint on the reserve/covid list. Watt was activated from that list on Saturday morning.
On the inactives list for the Steelers are cornerback Joe Haden, running back Anthony McFarland, defensive tackle Carlos Davis, defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs and third quarterback Dwayne Haskins. Haden will miss his third consecutive game, and Buggs will sit out his second game in a row. He was a healthy scratch at Cincinnati but was ruled out Friday with an ankle injury.
Davis was activated from injured reserve, but the Steelers will go with newly acquired Montravius Adams at nose tackle. Adams joined the Steelers on Monday after being signed from the New Orleans Saints practice squad. He’s a five-year veteran who spent his first four seasons with Green Bay.
Offensive lineman Chaz Green, who was elevated from the practice squad for the game, is part of the game-day roster. John Leglue and Zach Banner are the other backup offensive linemen that will dress for the game.
The Steelers have lost two games in a row and put a 5-5-1 record on the line against the 8-3 Ravens, who own the best record in the AFC North.
