SAN FRANCISCO — Bud Dupree didn’t get flagged for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson last Sunday, but he will be a little lighter in the wallet because of the transgression.

The NFL on Saturday levied a $21,056 fine against the Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker for his hit on Wilson with 8:54 left in the fourth quarter of the Steelers’ 28-26 loss to the Seahawks at Heinz Field.

Dupree’s hit on Wilson came on the play in which the Seahawks successfully challenged an incomplete pass, arguing that safety Terrell Edmunds committed pass interference on receiver Tyler Lockett. Given a first down and prime field position, the Seahawks scored a touchdown to take a 28-19 lead with 7:22 remaining.

“I thought it was a little high, but it’s part of the game,” Wilson said after the game. “You get back up and keep playing.”

Dupree said he apologized to Wilson after the play.

The Steelers (0-2) play the San Francisco 49ers (2-0) on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
