Betting odds figure Pirates are destined for last place in NL Central
If the betting lines released Tuesday by BetOnline.ag are any indication, the Pittsburgh Pirates are poised to take a step back this season.
Coming off their fourth winning season (82-79) since 1992, the Pirates are looking to improve. Don’t bet on it, BetOnline.ag says.
The Pirates were listed with an over/under win total of 77 ½. That is tied with the Cincinnati Reds for the fewest wins line of any team in the National League Central. The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals (88½ each) are deemed co-favorites to win the most games in the NL Central, followed closely by the Milwaukee Brewers at 84½.
The only teams with a lower over/under wins total than the Pirates in the National League are the Miami Marlins (66½) and the San Francisco Giants (73½), although the Reds and Arizona Diamondbacks have the same total as the Pirates. There are six American League teams with a total at as many wins as the Pirates or fewer, highlighted (lowlighted?) by the 60½ wins total for the Baltimore Orioles.
