Beset by injuries, Pirates add 2 players to roster
The Pittsburgh Pirates added two players to a depleted roster Tuesday when relief pitcher Chris Stratton was reinstated from the injured list and infielder Jake Elmore was brought back after spending most of the season with Triple-A Indianapolis
The Pirates will play the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday without injured regulars Josh Bell (groin), Starling Marte (wrist) and Jacob Stallings (back spasms). Also, closer Felipe Vazquez was placed on the restricted list after he was arrested on child solicitation charges.
Stratton (1-1, 3.43 ERA with the Pirates) had been out since Aug. 29 with right side inflammation. Elmore, 32, was 1 for 20 with the Pirates earlier this season, but hit .322 in Indianapolis.
Infielder Corban Joseph, who was claimed off waivers from the San Francisco Giants on Monday, is active for the game.
