Agent: Steelers sign free agent defensive lineman Armon Watts
In a move that continues to build depth on the defensive line, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed free agent Armon Watts, according to his agent, David Canter.
Watts earned $2.54 million last year, his lone season with the Chicago Bears.
Watts, 26, is the third defensive lineman the Steelers have signed in free agency. They re-signed Larry Ogunjobi to a three-year contract and then signed former Los Angeles Chargers Breiden Fehoko to a one-year deal.
The 6-foot-5, 307-pound Watts was the sixth-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in the 2019 NFL Draft. He had a career-high five sacks in 2021 but was cut in training camp last year and claimed by the Bears. In Chicago, Watts started 12 games and appeared in all 17 while playing 49% of all defensive snaps.
He totaled 35 tackles, including four for a loss, and one sack.
