Veteran wide receiver John Brown is looking for a new home after being released by the Buffalo Bills. He thinks Pittsburgh could be a potential destination.

One day after he was cut loose in a salary-cap move, Brown said the Steelers and Indianapolis Colts are two teams he wouldn’t mind playing for in 2021.

Brown shared his thoughts Thursday morning on SiriusXM NFL Radio’s “Morning Drive.”

“It depends on who needs a receiver,” Brown said. “Definitely the Pittsburgh Steelers. Big Ben is definitely good with the deep ball. The Indianapolis Colts, the way they use T.Y. Hilton. When we played those guys in the playoffs last year, and I walked off, I said, ‘This team is up and coming and they are going to be a problem in the next few years.’

“I feel like I would fit in anywhere, but those are the main two off the top.”

The Steelers have four of their top five wide receivers returning, but are expected to lose JuJu Smith-Schuster to free agency. Brown, who turns 31 in April, is older than any receiver on the Steelers roster.

The 5-foot-11 Brown, who thrives on running deep routes, was released after his second season with the Bills, a move that cleared almost $8 million in salary-cap savings. Slowed by ankle injury that cost him six games in 2020, Brown totaled 33 catches for 458 yards and three touchdowns.

In his first year in Buffalo, Brown had 72 catches for 1,060 yards and six touchdowns.

Brown spent his first four NFL seasons in Arizona, then played for the Baltimore Ravens in 2018.

Despite his ankle injury last year — he also spent a week on the reserve/covid-19 list — Brown returned for the playoffs and caught eight passes for 62 yards in Buffalo’s divisional round win against Baltimore. He was held to two catches for 24 yards in the AFC championship game loss to Kansas City.

“The ankle is fully healed up,” Brown said. “It was tough, but I don’t think I beat myself up too much about the situation.”
