Big Ben was back on the practice fields Thursday at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex — on the sidelines.

Three days after undergoing season-ending elbow surgery in Los Angeles, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was at the facility taking in practice.

“Just a great guy, out there supporting us,” receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster said. “As a captain, he’s going to be out there with us. Whether he’s in the game or not in the game, he helping us and dissecting the defense, and he tells us what he likes and we go off of that, with everyone’s hand put in the pile.”

Roethlisberger did not speak with media.

Another injured starter, Sean Davis, also was spotted in the locker room for the first time since his season-ending surgery.
