Letter to the editors: Why are schools closing?

Tribune-Review

I am wondering why schools are being shuttered because a few students have either tested positive or come down with what is supposed to be covid-19. When I was young and in school, the children who came down with measles, chicken pox, polio, the flu, colds, mononucleosis or any other sickness stayed home, and the healthy children went to school.

This panic management is not only uncalled for, but downright stupid. This has done harm to the mental health of a whole generation of students. The social interaction that is missing is creating a generation of social misfits. To deny children the one place where they can interact with their peers borders on child abuse, and if I was a judge sitting on the bench, I would file warrants for the arrest of the politicians perpetrating these crimes against children.

To deprive children of a solid education is a crime against humanity. A good education includes interaction with peers, and these children are being deprived of that part of growing up by knucklehead politicians who are afraid of the shadows.
