Letter to the editor: Zelenak will honor sanctity of all life

Tribune-Review

Rep. Leslie Rossi states that she will protect “the sanctity of all human life.” However, her knee-jerk vetoes of bills that she considers government overreach belie this claim.

Rossi voted “no” on two bills, both of which are eligible for federal funding. HB 2137 would expand a Department of Health Maternal and Newborn Supply Kit program to help ease the financial and emotional stress that new parents face by supplying newborn and postpartum supplies. HB 1425 would expand maternal home visits to improve maternal and child health by providing information on safe pregnancy practices, breastfeeding support and parenting skills.

Rossi also voted “no” on legislation to address eating disorders in schools (HB 148) and legislation that would mandate carbon monoxide detectors in child care centers (HB 494).

The 59th District needs a representative who will truly honor the sanctity of life. Margie Zelenak would be that representative. She will work to provide support and services to protect children and to ensure the quality of life for all constituents. She will not vote against commonsense legislation because of misguided understandings of the role of government.

Vote for Margie Zelenak to represent the 59th District on Nov. 5.
