Letter to the editor: Zelenak will have everyone's back
In a historic bipartisan vote, in May 2023, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed the Fairness Act, which aims to grant statewide anti-discrimination protections to LGBTQ+ individuals. The bill, HB 300, passed with a 102-98 vote and received support from both Democrats and Republicans. This marks the first time the bill has passed either legislative chamber in its 47-year history.
Guess who voted “no”? You guessed right: Leslie Rossi voted “no” for the Fairness Act. District 59 deserves better representation.
The Fairness Act seeks to amend the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act to include sexual orientation and gender identity or expression to its list of protected classes. Such protections extend to housing, education and public accommodations.
Please pay attention to Rossi and her “no” votes that affect you and your children.
I find Rossi’s “no” vote to be a hate-induced, deliberate act of discrimination.
Her opponent, Margie Zelenak, has everyone’s back. She is running a fair campaign. She is for everyone’s rights.
District 59, you deserve better. Vote for Margie Zelenak on Nov. 5.
